...And there was. That's right, I got the dining room chandelier hung (people are hanged things are hung)!! Yippee!!!!!! This was probably the single most happiest day of my life! Before now, the lamp had caused me nothing but pain and turmoil. I even broke the glass on the dining room table trying to get this light hung up. I had to put it on the original light base that the wicker light was hanging on because the base I wanted to use wouldnt drill into the ceiling, but it still looks good. I'll have to go back Tuesday and do a once-over with the paint to get all the areas that we scraped during the hanging process. Other than that, I'm happy as a clam.
But, I'm getting a little ahead of myself. The light didn't get put up until Sunday. Saturday, Jerome and I ran errands ("Actually a pretty nice little Saturday, we're gonna go to Home Depot. Yeah, buy some wallpaper, maybe get some flooring, stuff like that. Maybe Bed, Bath, & Beyond, I don't know, I don't know if we'll have enough time." - Frank the Tank, Old School) to Target and Home Depot where we got new flannel sheets and screws for the light. It took quite awhile so Jerome bailed out after a quick lunch at Wendy's. From there, I went to his least favorite store, Ikea. To tell you the truth, I'm not a fan of Ikea myself. Many people go Ikea crazy and end up with a house that looks like it came straight out of the catalogue. Don't get me wrong, Ikea has some GREAT stuff, but you can definitley have too much of a good thing.
I was on the hunt for chairs. I've been searching for chairs since before we moved in. I wanted two matching chairs to go in the living room. After two months of searching, I gave up and decided to go with Ikea. I also found purple fabric to cover the dining room chairs and picture frames to showcase the gorgeous papers I found at Paper Source. One of the frames is broken, but once I get that exchanged, they'll be hung above the desk with a purple painted frame behind them. Should be awesome!
Things are finally starting to come along which is great. In the dining room I need to install cord holders to hide the computer cords. After that I need to finally find a rug I like, add some accents and table linens, and I'll be all set. Oh yeah, and I need to find glass for the table. I actually found a glass table at Ikea in the As Is section for only $45. Always check here for good deals!
The living room is okay. I still hate that loveseat but I can live with it for now. I'm not a fan of how the furniture is arranged, but the TV is heavy and Jerome and his friends refuse to move it again until we're actually moving out so that kind of dictates where all the furniture goes...I've decided to get a flat screen instead so I can put things were I actually want them!
Sunday was light day. I also cleaned my room finally! All of my tools and things have been bunched in with all sorts of unpacked boxes. Now it finally looks decent! In November, I'll get to work on that bedroom/work room and show how a small space can be used for a dual purpose which is key for Boston renters and those with home businesses.
Lots more to talk about but this post has been long enough so...adios!
