Going Green

I tend to be a little weary when it comes to "green" products. A lot of the time they cost more, aren't that attractive, and require a lot of research. In the time it takes to find info for eco-friendly products, I could have purchased a shopping cart full of conventional items.

But there's a new blog in town helping to simplify all that is green. Jennae Petersen is the blogger behind Green Your Decor (found via No Accounting for Taste). Green Your Decor does all the work for you. Not only does Jennae show you eco-friendly products, she also tells you WHY the prodcuts are considered green. And don't worry about style, even the cat trees (pictured below) are hip and modern! That translates into less time researching and more time shopping!

  1. Powder coated steel is green? The process involved with doing that is quite questionable.

  2. I'm not sure which piece you're refering to, however I've learned that "green" can mean many different things. Sometimes it means that they've found a way to REDUCE the amount of harmful chemicals or waste. Other times it means they REPLACED harmful materials with natural materials from renewable sources. There are so many different meanings to "green"...sometimes a little eco-friendliness is better than nothing at all.

  3. There are several great eco blogs now, so it shouldn't be that difficult anymore! And buying vintage and building your own furniture like you do is also a way of going green=)

  4. Thank you so much for passing on the word about my site to your readers! I'm so happy to hear that you found value in it, and I'll keep spreading the green word! And thank you for the link in your blogroll. I genuinely appreciate it. And you're right...Green CAN mean a lot of things, and I do my best to present all the information and options available.
